Improvers Throwing Course (Plates) - 5 weeks
This improvers course teaches you to throw plates and pasta bowls on the potter's wheel.
This course is for people who have been on a beginner course or two and would like to learn to throw plates and bowls on bats. If you have only been on one beginner course you might struggle with this. You should be confident in centring and making a cylinder independently.
5 glazed and fired pieces are included in your course fee. Additional pots are £7 each.

Improvers Throwing Course Outline – 5 weeks (one evening per week):
Week 1 – side plates and saucers
Start on centring larger pieces of clay and throwing flat, working towards producing smaller plates with and without rims by the end of the session.
Week 2 – pasta bowls
Work on pulling walls of plates up to form larger, shallower dishes and pasta bowls.
Week 3 – plates
Up your weights and start working on larger plates and saucers.
Week 4 – trimming
Turn and trim your pieces to prepare them for their first fire.
Week 5 – glazing
Glaze your pieces using our extensive range of glazes, crystal glazes, and oxides. You can choose your favourite 6 pieces to be fired in our kiln and take home.

You can reschedule your class provided we are given at least 7 days notice before start of the course.
Regrettably, we are unable to change any bookings if LESS than 7 days notice is given.
