 One day courses are a great introduction to pottery and make a great gift to someone who wants to try pottery or a new crafty experience.

We have two types of day courses we have on offer:

Wheel throwing which concentrates on wheel throwing all day long

Wheel throwing and hand building is wheel throwing in the moring and hand building in the afternoon . Please see below for details:

Course Outline:

This course focuses on the  basics of throwing and on developing following skills: wedging, centering, compressing, pulling and turning.  You will learn how to:

Wedge and prepare the caly

Centre the clay on the wheel

Pulling the sides up.

Turning and finishing thrown pots.

We fire your best 5 pieces for you and dip them in a colour of your choice.

10:00 - 1:00  Wheel Throwing

1:00 -2:00  Lunch Break

2:00 - 4:00 Wheel Throwing and Turning

4:00-5:00 Finishing pots

Day Throwing and building Course for Beginners   a great gift.

Led by Clay Time's experienced potters (Up to 8 students places available, using 8 wheels)

This is a mixed technique course, wheel throwing in the morning, handbuilding using plaster moulds and decorating in the afternoon. You will experience the intesity of wheel throwing and the relaxing hand building in the afternoon.

Course Outline:

This course focuses on the  basics of throwing in the morning and on developing following skills: wedging, centering, compressing, pulling and turning. 

After lunch you will use plaster moulds to build two plates/Bowls and slip decorate them. You also can use our sprig moulds to decorate your pots .

 We fire your best 5 pieces for you and dip them in a colour of your choice.

1:00 -2:00  Lunch Break

2:00 - 4:00 Making bowls/plates with plaster moulds

4:00-5:00 Decorating and finishing pots
