Nerikomi One Day Pottery Course
(Japanese technique working with coloured clay)
All day course for beginners exploring Narikomi; make excuisite pots and bowls,roll your own patterns and layer them as you see fit. This is a relaxing, meditative, clean and rewarding course.
his is a new day course at Clay Time, using Nerikomi, coloured clay patterns to create beautiful bowls or plates for example. We stained the clay for you and you will mix the layers as you see fit to create the patterns and shapes you like. Then you inlay them onto shapes/moulds from plaster to create what you like. We will demonstrate what can be achieved through this technique and how best to use the materials to give best results. This is a relaxing, meditative, relatively clean and mindful way of working with clay. The instructor will be on hand to make sure you achieve your desired outcome and help you with any technical aspects. We use pure white clay and porcelin stains for teaching this course. We will fire 3 large pots for free or 4 smaller ones.
